Why do we suppose that hair removal
procedure is rather
normal? Have you ever thought over the reasons of such sometimes rather
painful procedures? Is all this done only for pretty appearance? Well,
probably, for today's people hair
removal
has acquired only such simple reasons as good looking and
common
hygiene practice. For our ancestors, hair on different parts of the
body were sings of various social and religion identity. Nowadays we
still can observe that hair removal rules can be followed for national
or gender identity.
But still the main instinct of a human being is to survive, but not to
look pretty. So, it can be asserted that the first reason of hair
removal is a common hygienic practice. Thus, in Ancient Egypt, most
people depilated their entire bodies in order to avoid infestation by
fleas, lice and other parasites. Hair removal also minimizes body odor,
because it is caused by the micro-organisms in hair. But still, there
are opponents of pubic
hair removal, just because it helps to spread special
pheromones which attract the members of the opposite sex.
It should be said that hair removal became increasingly common only in
the 20th century. Since that time women in Western countries start to
practice hair removal because of social values that consider it
unattractive and not feminine. Nowadays some women reject any body hair removal methods,
just because they suppose that such a procedure is an oppressive
ritual.
In other words, the world of men dictates how a woman has to look and
behave in order to has no problem with social acceptance. But still, we
decide by themselves whether to do this procedure and what hair removal
method to choose.
Some people suppose that our aesthetic views were created under the
influence of art. Just look through the numerous masterpieces where a
nude woman is depicted. As a rule, all these art paintings portrayed a
woman with no pubic hair. The reason of it was very simple: pubic hair
was linked to sexual acts and desires, and it was prohibited to paint
it. So, it can be called an ordinary advertisement.
